Meet Our Gunsmiths: Steve Krieg
Steve has had a lifetime of firearm use, repair, and diagnosis. His love of firearms began as a young child. He carried this passion into the US Army when he enlisted at age 17 as an armor crewman and went on to spend 5 years on active duty for our country, including serving in Vietnam.
Following his service, Steve began working for the Department of Defense where he was responsible for weapons testing and development for the US Army, determining the viability of current and new firearms. In layman’s terms, he was the guy that decided if a gun was suitable for combat use. Steve tested everything from pistols and rifles to grenades, rockets, and the monstrous 30mm Vulcan Gatling Gun.
Throughout this time, he achieved an impressive number of certifications and completed training in weapon systems repair of numerous platforms; including the M240 and M249 SAW, M16, M4, M9 pistol, M242 bushmaster 25mm, MK19, MOD-3 machine gun, and the M2 “ma deuce” machine gun. He has more recently completed factory repair courses from Heckler & Koch, Smith & Wesson, and Glock.
When Steve joined the Black Wing team as a gunsmith in 2007, his experience and knowledge of firearm diagnosis and repair became an unbelievably valuable asset not only to our Gunsmithing Department, but our Black Wing family!
Meet Our Gunsmiths: Jacob Dixon
Jacob is the newest addition to our Gunsmith team. He is a graduate of The Colorado School of Trades 2017 and Rutherford B Hayes class of 2013. Jacob grew up in Delaware and has come back to the area to join the Black Wing team!
Jacob has been involved in the shooting sports industry since a very young age, he began his involvement with 4-H shooting sports at age 10 and is still an active advisor in the program. His passion for firearms and the shooting sports has led him into a professional career in the industry with almost 4 years under his belt to date. Jacob is a factory certified armorer through Smith & Wesson and Glock Inc, a Cerakote certified applicator, and has extensive manual machining experience making him a great asset to the Black Wing family!
